By popular demand, CNCA Nepali School is organizing it’s second Momo Competition on December 11, 2011, starting at the regular school hour in the Richmond Knobb Community Hall. The event will start at 2:30 and end at 6:30 PM. The last Momo competition was held in 2009.

In the competition, three different teams will cook momo at the venue. In the process the students will learn about one of the most famous Nepali dish, its ingredients, recipe and required utensils. The parents of the student help in managing and providing the required ingredients.
The parents of the students will volunteer to prepare the meat in their home with the help of the students. While preparing the meat, the parents will have to monitor the food hygiene and let the student learn about all the ingredients. In the school, each team will be helped by a parent volunteer to assist during cooking and monitor safety of the students.
All the plates, cups, cutlery required for the event will be taken from CNCA inventory.
A number of judges will be assigned the task of evaluating the performance of the student teams. They will complete the score sheet prepared for the competition based on the following scoring guideline:
- speaking (30%)
- writing (30%)
- knowledge (20%)
- teamwork (10%)
- Momo taste (10%)
Rules for the student team:
- When judges ask questions in Nepali, they have to reply in Nepali.
- They have to submit recipe written in Nepali.
- Each team should have one person assigned to prepare/write the recipe in Nepali.
- Each team should have one person assigned to serve momo to the judges.
The event sequence:
- Team will take their table, get organized.
- Assign roles, who does what.
- Start making momo.
- Person assigned to write the recipe, starts writing.
- Judges will go around and do evaluation.
- Judges will be notified to take seat and taste the momo and complete the evaluation forms.
- Assigned team members serve momo to the judges.
- Students will be served next.
- Parents and Guests will be served last.
