Tribute to Mrs. Betty Tallon

We are deeply saddened by the news of Mrs. Betty Tallon passing on November 15, 2014. BettyShe passed away peacefully with her husband and children on her bed side in South Health Campus, Calgary. She was 80 years old and survived by her husband Mr. Bernie Tallon, two daughters, a son and a granddaughter. Mrs. Tallon and her husband Mr. Bernie Tallon are familiar faces in our CNCA events and they have been CNCA members since 1998. She was actively involved in helping many new Nepali families settling down in Calgary and even in her late age she was actively engaged in our CNCA events. Mrs. Tallon also volunteered in Nepal in 1996 for 6 months as a nurse in a remote village of Kharpari in Dhading district. We are honored and blessed to have known Mrs. Tallon for a long time. She was truly a blessing in our CNCA lives and we will miss her dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family. God rest her soul in peace!

CNCA ‘Summer Camping’ 2014 on Sandy McNabb Camping Site (June 27-29)

As part of the Annual Events, CNCA is organizing ‘Summer Camping’ 2014 (June 27-29) on Sandy McNabb Camping Site. Sandy McNabb Group Camping Site A has been booked for CNCA 2014 group camping. The Sandy McNabb campground is located approximately 25km west of the town of Turner Valley. Turner Valley is 75 km south-west of Calgary and it takes approximately 1 hour to reach there. This campground was renovated in 2011 and includes flush toilet, shower, picnic table, picnic shelter and firepits. The Sheep River runs crystal clear and is home to wild Cutthroat Trout, Bull Trout and Rainbow Trout. Deer, Elk, Bear and Bighorn Sheep are all around this area. Sheep River Falls and Indian Oils is located just west of here and worth the drive. Views of the pools and eddies along the Sheep River are beautiful and very inviting. The hike along the Sandy McNabb interpretive trail offers excellent views of the Sheep River.

We tried to find other camping sites which have at least flush toilet and picnic shelter and unfortunately all of the sites are fully booked. We have used Sandy McNabb Group Camping Site B in 2011 and the facility is really very good.

The following are the details of booking:

Arrival: Friday, June 27, 2014

Departure: Sunday, June 29, 2014

Maximum units: 10

Cost: $340 per night and $12 non-refundable reservation fee.

Cancellation: More than 10 days before the scheduled arrival date.

Please confirm your participation by sending an email to n_pokhrel@yahoo.com. We will send further details to the confirmed participants only. If we receive confirmation from more than 10 families, priority will be given to the first ten families.
